Comparison of Sizes for Full, Queen & King Beds

Before the queen and king sizes of mattresses became popular, the full-size bed was the most common option for couples looking for a comfortable sleeping arrangement. The dimensions of your bedroom are affected by the size of your bed, as are the initial expenditure and recurring costs for sheets and bedding. When compared to the prices of sheets and bedding for queen and king-size beds, those for full-size beds are often more affordable. A larger bed has a more opulent appearance and provides more space to spread out.

Full or Double

A full or double bed has a width of 53 inches and a length of 75 inches, however the exact dimensions might vary somewhat depending on the manufacturer. Pillows of a standard size are a good match for it, and it can often accommodate antique quilts or bedspreads. There is a possibility that an older bed frame or headboard that is not large enough for a queen- or king-size mattress may accommodate a double mattress. A full-size bed takes up the least amount of floor space possible and prevents a cramped feeling in even the smallest of bedrooms.

Queen Size

The dimensions of a queen-size mattress are 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. The amount of available space may make a difference in the level of comfort experienced by bigger or more restless sleepers. If there is enough room in the bedroom for a larger bed, the additional cost of the mattress, sheets, and other bedding may be justified by the increased amount of space available for sleeping offered by the larger bed. In most cases, standard pillows may be used on a bed that is queen-sized.

The Two Kings

There are two variations on the king bed size: the normal king and the California king. The standard king-size mattress, often known as an Eastern king, typically has dimensions of 76 inches wide by 80 inches long. The standard size for a California king mattress is 72 inches by 84 inches; however, these dimensions are not set in stone. If you have a king-size bed, standard pillows may make the bed seem even larger than it is, so you may want to consider purchasing king-size pillows instead.
